A warm welcome always awaits you at St John’s.
Our regular services each Sunday are the Parish Eucharist at 10.15am and Evensong at 6.30pm. There is a mid-week Holy Communion service on Tuesdays at 11.00am.
Parish Eucharist
We celebrate the Eucharist using the Common Worship Rite (Order One) in Traditional language. Well known settings of the Eucharist are used so that there is a good opportunity for all of the congregation to participate. Our choir, the St John’s Singers, usually leads the Sunday service and at major festivals. The second Sunday of each month is a family service, the details of which are shown below.
Holy Communion
On the second Sundays of the month we have an 8.00am said service of Holy Communion using the tradition Book of Common Prayer (1662).
Family Service
There is a Family Service with activities for children on the second Sunday of each month (except in August). This is a Communion Service which the children are encouraged to attend with their parents, and they can take part in plays, songs and readings. There are toys and colouring for the younger children, and refreshments are available at the end of the service.
From time to time, the Family Service takes place on a different Sunday of the month, for example on Mothering Sunday.
Sung Evensong (Book of Common Prayer)
Tradition Evensong normally sung using Anglican chant. |
